Hello! I’m Holland. Nice to meet you.! I would love to speak with you about your design dilemmas and aspirations, and how you want your home to optimally feel and serve you. As a mother of boys, former art-teacher, and self-taught serial renovator, my homes have meant many things to me. I have created spaces to raise and celebrate family, and places to escape the jumble of family, casual homes that blur the distinction between indoors and the surrounding nature, where bare feet are the norm (despite my love of high heels!). My homes have happily gathered friends, family, children, teens, and cats and dogs, and have also served as sanctuaries for hibernating during times of shelter-in-place or grief. I sadly lost my dear mom in 2015 and tragically lost my beloved eldest son in 2021, both extraordinarily creative and inspiring people who are deeply missed every day. Each home I lived in at the time offered the womb-like shelter and protection I so powerfully needed and still require. The idea of renovating and decorating are so often misunderstood as superficial, purely aesthetic enterprises that are merely for those who can afford to follow expensive trends in pursuit of an insta-lifestyle. And yet, nothing could be further from the truth. We all deserve to live in spaces we love, surrounded by things that reflect our personalities and priorities, and that support our practical needs, creative passions and relationships. That interior landscape must first be beautiful and meaningful to you, in order to sustain you in all the changing chapters, and ups and downs of your life, and while it may be fun to play with trends that appeal to you, a healthy, evolving home will incorporate the new along side the tried and true. Therein lies the soul.
